Monthly Kumikō Experience

Kōdō 香道, the Way of Incense,
is one of Japan's most elusive cultural arts, with its roots in classical court culture and elite warrior-class traditions. Please join us for these monthly sessions offering an introduction to the elegant art of incense appreciation. Classes are held once per month English class: one Saturday per month* 11:30 am Japanese class: one Friday per month* 10:30 am & 1:30 pm *monthly dates change depending on instructor availability* This class is for individuals who have already taken our "Introduction to Kumikō" class or the equivalent. If it is your first time participating in kōdō, please contact us before registering for the monthly class. Location: SaBi Tea Arts 90 minutes Next sessions: English class: Saturday March 7 & April 18 at 11:30 am Japanese classes: Friday March 6 at 11:00 am & April 17 at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm Participants will participate in Kumikō incense appreciation games. Through sampling different types of aromatic woods, we also explore Japanese history, poetic traditions, and aesthetics. Tea and sweets will be served following each session. |

茶道や華道と同じで礼儀作法や立居振い さらに香道にちなんだお話、古典文学など楽しく学べます。 香炉で炊いた香木の香りは、品がよく心が落ち着く良い香りです。 その香りを聞き当てるお遊び（組香）を致します。 開催日：月に１回の金曜日午前10:30時＆午後1:30時（日本語）※ 月に１回の土曜日11:30時（英語）※ 場所： Sabi Tea Arts 所要時間：９０分 組香でのお客様の作法のクラスです。 お菓子とお茶を用意してお待ちしております。 ＊次の開催日： 日本語クラス 3月6日 午前11時と4月17日（金） 午前 10:30 と午後 1:30 英語クラス 3月7日、4月18日（土） 午前 11:30 ※開催日について 基本月に１回の開催となりますが、 何週目と確定されていませんので、月々お知らせいたします。 ご了承のほどよろしくお願い致します。 |
