NERIKŌ "KNEADED INCENSE"-MAKING
NERIKŌ INCENSE FOR THE YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE

11:00 am - 12:30 pm OR 1:30 - 3:00 pm
This 90-minute workshop will present an overview of the history, materials, and preparation techniques of nerikō, a type of soft pastille-type blended incense that can be traced back more than 1000 years in Japan. Participants will then make one of two specially-formulated blends prepared by the Senzan Goryū School of Kōdō in Kyoto and will take home samples of both blends to enjoy at home.
